Handwoven Textiles and Window Coverings
by Weaver Diane Thorp
Internationally known weaver Diane Thorp's pieces are hand-loomed on Vancouver Island from natural fibers. Her "transparencies" are designed for hanging in windows as translucent screens.
Weavings start at C$500.
Diane Thorp has been weaving for over thirty years. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and shows in Canada since the 1980s. Over the years Diane has inspired many weavers with her floor loom weaving courses and various other workshops and programmes. She was a co-owner of a design company creating and marketing handwoven clothing in the USA and Canada. In 2000 she returned to art pieces and her exploration into the subject of entrances and doors has been featured in Fibrearts Magazine.
Currently Diane is working on a series of linen transparencies which focus on simplicity and the lure of openings.
All materials can be handwashed in a mild soap designed for delicate fabrics.
